Technology Security Support Specialist I

The Daily Safety Check Security Operations Center provides proactive maintenance, security monitoring, incident response and forensics investigations for business & home clients. We are currently looking for a Technology Security Specialist I to join our team in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Technology Security Specialist I is a member of our Security Operations Center team responsible for security event monitoring and analysis for multiple customer environments. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, experience in information technology and an understanding of security controls for common platforms such as Windows and network equipment.

This position might require on-call pager coverage, overtime or off-shift coverage.

Required Experience

  • 2 or more years experience working in a Security Operations Center environment
  • Ability to successfully interface and establish rapport with customers (internal and external)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of current information security threat landscape
  • Understanding of security controls for common platforms and devices, including Windows, Linux and network equipment
  • Experience performing preliminary security event analysis
  • Knowledgeable network or host-based intrusion detection, incident response and remediation
  • Knowledge of tools and technologies used for technology security
  • Understanding of current information security challenges and solutions
  • Understanding of Windows operating systems and command line tools, network protocols, TCP/IP fundamentals
  • Familiarity with network architecture and security infrastructure placement

Desired Experience:

Ideally you will have experience providing continuous support and expertise of the following:
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing security on Microsoft XP, Vista and 7
  • Microsoft-based patch management procedures
  • Experience with host-based Firewalls and major antivirus platforms
  • Customer Relationship Management procedures
  • Certifications in CISSP, CISA and CISM are also desirable.
